Senate Dems’ campaign arm outpaces GOP counterpart in June

The Senate Democrats’ campaign arm topped its Republican counterpart in fundraising by more than $2 million in June, according to a release. 

{mosads}The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) brought in $8.6 million last month and it has $29 million in cash on hand. The DSCC reports having no debt.

The National Republican Senatorial Committee’s (NRSC) June haul was more than $6.5 million and it has about $26.4 million in the bank, according to the committee. The NRSC also reports no debt.

“Our continued fundraising success shows the frustration voters feel with a Republican-led Senate that’s refused to take action on Zika funding, President Obama’s Supreme Court nominee, and commonsense gun safety reform,” DSCC Executive Director Tom Lopach said in a statement. 

“As Republicans fall in line behind Donald Trump, our terrific candidates across the country are showing how they will stand up for middle class families, and we are thankful to have the resources necessary to help them win in November.”

The race for the Senate majority is a heated one this cycle.

Democrats need to net five Senate seats in 2016 — or four while retaining the White House — to regain a majority in the upper chamber.

Democrats are only defending 10 seats, while the GOP is defending 24 seats, including several in swing states that were won by Obama in both 2008 and 2012.
