Rep. Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.) on Tuesday taunted Sen. Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) for abandoning his endorsement of Donald Trump.

Duckworth, who is challenging Kirk over his Senate seat this fall, also posted a link tying the senator to Trump’s rhetoric.

Kirk on Tuesday said he would not vote for Trump, after previously endorsing the GOP’s de facto presidential nominee.

“While I oppose the Democratic nominee, Donald Trump’s latest statements, in context with past attacks on Hispanics, women and the disabled like me, make it certain that I cannot and will not support my party’s nominee for president regardless of the political impact on my candidacy or the Republican Party,” he said in a statement.

“After much consideration, I have concluded that Donald Trump has not demonstrated the temperament necessary to assume the greatest office in the world,” added Kirk, who is arguably the most vulnerable Republican senator.

Kirk and other Republicans are aghast over Trump’s attacks on a Hispanic judge overseeing lawsuits against the billionaire’s Trump University.

Trump has repeatedly said Judge Gonzalo Curiel’s “Mexican” heritage makes him incapable of judging the suits impartiality.

Trump contends Curiel will not treat him fairly due to the businessman’s border and illegal immigration policies. Curiel was born in Indiana to Mexican immigrant parents.

Duckworth’s Senate campaign on Tuesday mocked Kirk’s hesitation over putting distance between himself and Trump’s remarks.

“What took so long?” asked deputy campaign manager Matt McGrath in a statement.

“Apparently for Mark Kirk, it’s acceptable to refer to Mexicans as rapists; to propose banning Muslims from entering the country; to call women fat pigs and dogs; to mock a reporter’s disability; and to insult just about everybody who doesn’t look like Donald Trump,” he added.

“Until today, and for nearly a year, Kirk was fine with all of that, and even saw a ‘net benefit’ in Trump’s campaign, and offered himself up as a potential adviser. Yesterday, Tammy Duckworth called Kirk’s silence in the face of Trump’s bigotry a betrayal, and we’re standing by our statement.”
