Democrats attack GOP candidates with ‘Trump Cards’

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) is releasing cards that link vulnerable Senate Republicans to the policy views of Donald Trump.

The cards, which were first provided to The Hill, are a part of the DSCC’s continued “Party of Trump” campaign and will be tailored to individual GOP candidates or incumbents in competitive Senate races. The “Trump Cards” focus on specific policy questions and where they stand on issues including pay equity, the minimum wage and Wall Street reform.

{mosads}“Not only do Republican Senators and Senate candidates support Donald Trump, but they share many of his damaging policy positions,” DSCC spokeswoman Lauren Passalacqua said in a statement. “As Republicans attempt some tricky gymnastics to separate from Trump while also supporting him, the DSCC will continue holding them accountable for their dangerous shared agendas that are harmful for hard-working middle class families.”

The DSCC and Democratic Senate hopefuls have raced to link their Republican opponents to the controversial businessman.

On Thursday, Trump will meet with Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and other members of GOP leadership in Washington amid tensions between the two. Last week, Ryan said he wasn’t ready to support Trump.

Vulnerable Republicans are struggling to find the right tone in talking about their presumptive nominee. Many have said they’ll back their party’s nominee but won’t refer to Trump by name. Sen. Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) and Rep. David Jolly (R-Fla.), who’s running for the open Florida Senate seat, haven’t committed to supporting Trump.

The National Republican Senatorial Committee has advised its candidates to localize their races and have been countering the Democrats’ Trump attacks with their own press releases tying Democratic hopefuls to the party’s presidential candidates, Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders.
