Sen. Rob Portman’s (R-Ohio) campaign announced Monday that it has raised more than $2 million during the last three months for his reelection fight.
That leaves Portman’s campaign with more than $11 million in cash to fight what’s expected to be a hotly contested reelection race.
{mosads}Likely Democratic opponent Ted Strickland’s campaign has not yet announced its third-quarter fundraising figures, nor has Cincinnati City Councilman P.G. Sittenfeld.
Eighty-seven percent of the Portman donations were from Ohio, his campaign said.
“The momentum and enthusiasm behind Rob Portman and the campaign continues to grow across Ohio,” Portman campaign manager Corry Bliss said in a statement.
The RealClearPolitics average of a pair of polls over the summer finds Strickland narrowly leading Portman, 42.5 percent to 42 percent.
