Nevada GOP reps won’t run against Reid

Rep. Mark Amodei (R-Nev.) says he isn’t planning to run against soon-to-be Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), joining Rep. Joe Heck (R-Nev.) in signaling he wouldn’t run against the powerful Democrat.

{mosads}”If a guy was going to run against Harry Reid from the north, he should be creating an organization in Las Vegas right now, and I’m not,” Amodei tells the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

“The biggest problem with running for the Senate is, if you are elected, you just promised to stay in Washington, D.C., for six years,” he continued. “A two-year bite at a time is plenty good for me.”

Heck said last week that he had no interest in running for the Senate, removing Republicans’ other House member from contention.

The big question for most is whether popular Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval (R) challenges Reid. Sandoval just won reelection in a landslide, and national Republicans are hoping he’ll jump into the race. Sandoval has thus far remained quiet about his plans.
