Heller pushing Sandoval to challenge Reid

Sen. Dean Heller (R-Nev.) is pushing Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval (R) to challenge soon-to-be Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.).

{mosads}”We’ll see what he wants to do,” Heller tells the Las Vegas Sun. “I think he’ll want to assess, and we’ll give him a little time to do that.”

Sandoval, who just won reelection with 70 percent of the vote, would be a formidable foe to Reid and give Republicans what would likely be their best chance at picking up a Senate seat in 2016.

Heller is running to be chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee against Sen. Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) in a vote that will take place Thursday morning. Recruiting Sandoval would be a top priority for the incoming chairman.
