Palin cuts robo call for Landrieu challenger

Rob Maness, a Republican Senate candidate in Louisiana, is turning to Sarah Palin to gin up his vote totals on Tuesday.

{mosads}The former Alaska governor has cut a robo call for Maness, who is currently considered a long shot to make an expected December runoff for the seat now held by Sen. Mary Landrieu (D).

In the call, Palin talked up Maness’s military experience – he’s a retired Air Force colonel – and his vow to only serve two terms in the Senate.

“Hey, are you tired of Washington politics, and negative campaigning, and empty promises?  Well, send Washington a message,” Palin said on the call released Saturday.

“Rob Maness is the clearest contrast and the strongest candidate against Mary Landrieu,” the 2008 GOP nominee for vice president added. “It’s up to you, Louisiana.”

Rep. Bill Cassidy (R-La.) is widely expected to join Landrieu in the runoff, and is given good odds at capturing the seat for Republicans. But Palin, who endorsed Maness in May, said this week that she thinks her candidate can pull off a “shocker.”
