Obama’s praise used to attack Nunn in new Georgia GOP robocall

MARIETTA, GA. — The National Republican Senatorial Committee is using President Obama’s recent praise of former charity executive Michelle Nunn (D) to attack her in new robocalls.

{mosads}”In Georgia, we need a senator who will stand up to President Obama and the Democratic leadership. Michelle Nunn will be a rubberstamp for the failed policies of President Obama,” says a woman in the call, first obtained by The Hill.

The robocall then plays Obama’s recent comments on an Atlanta hip hop station saying that a Nunn win would help keep the Senate in Democratic hands.

“If Michelle Nunn wins, that means that Democrats keep control of the Senate and that means we can keep doing some good work,” Obama said.

“We need to elect David Perdue so we can repeal and replace ObamaCare, support a balanced budget amendment and stop illegal immigration,” the robocall concludes.

The calls are being made statewide, aimed at swing voters in the conservative-leaning state.

Obama’s comments were aimed at helping to boost the African American vote in Georgia, a critical part of Nunn’s coalition. But Republicans have been tying her relentlessly to him, and it was clear his comments would become fodder for the GOP as soon as they aired.

Perdue has already pounced on them, weaving them into his Friday stump speech while campaigning with Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ga.).
