Grimes doubles down on refusal to talk about Obama vote
Kentucky Democratic Senate nominee Alison Lundergan Grimes again refused to cede ground on her controversial refusal to reveal whether she voted for President Obama.
{mosads}Grimes, Kentucky’s secretary of state, argued that her job is to safeguard the privacy of the voting booth and called it a matter of principle.
“This is a matter of principle. Our Constitution grants here in Kentucky the constitutional right for privacy at the ballot box,” she said in the race’s only televised debate Monday.
“I’m not going to compromise a constitutional right provided here in Kentucky in order to curry favor on one or [an]other side,” she said.

The refusal echoed her controversial interview last week with the Louisville Courier Journal where she also dodged three times whether or not she voted for President Obama. She also underscored that she she respects “the sanctity of the ballot box” and called herself a “Clinton Democrat through and through.”
Chuck Todd, the moderator of NBC’s “Meet the Press,” one of Washington’s most respected political shows, said last week that Grimes “disqualified herself” by refusing to disclose her vote.
