Bill Clinton returning to Kentucky

Former President Bill Clinton is headed to Kentucky to campaign for Democratic Senate candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes again.

{mosads}Clinton is planning his second stop in the state on Aug. 6, Grimes’s campaign confirmed to The Hill, at an unpublicized event in eastern Kentucky.

“We are humbled by President Clinton’s continued commitment to our campaign and the hardworking people of Kentucky,” Grimes campaign manager Jonathan Hurst said Saturday. “The president shares Alison’s vision for a strong middle class, and his support in electing Alison, a champion for working families, to the U.S. Senate is invaluable.”

Clinton last visited the state in February, headlining a fundraiser for Grimes that brought in more than $600,000 for her campaign against Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R).

And he filmed a video that played at the candidate’s campaign kickoff event. The Clintons are close with Grimes’s father, Jerry Lundergan, who led Clinton’s campaigns in the state, and have pledged their full support to Grimes’s campaign.
