Report: Former SD Senate candidate Bosworth in police custody

Former South Dakota Republican Senate candidate Annette Bosworth has reportedly turned herself into the police for charges of perjury surrounding her nomination petitions.

{mosads}The Argus Leader is reporting Bosworth turned herself over to the Minnehaha County Jail after South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley put a warrant out for her arrest Wednesday morning. She’s being released on a personal recognizance bond.

Bosworth has been under investigation for allegedly claiming she circulated nomination petitions for her Senate candidacy when she was actually out of the country with her husband. The candidate had accused Jackley of launching a “campaign against” her to “derail [her] candidacy” with the investigation.

Bosworth came in fourth in the GOP primary for Senate on Tuesday night, taking just 6 percent of the vote. Eventual winner Mike Rounds drew 56 percent.

Despite her failure to win the nomination, however, Bosworth signaled Tuesday afternoon with the launch of a political action committee to engage in campaigns that she may continue to be a thorn in Rounds’s side. Rounds is, however, heavily favored to win retiring Sen. Tim Johnson’s (D) seat this fall.
