Former GOP chairman to face Udall

Former New Mexico Republican Party Chairman Allen Weh has won his primary to face Sen. Tom Udall (D-N.M.) this fall.

{mosads}The Associated Press has called the race for Weh, who led with 64 percent of the vote to 36 percent for attorney David Clements (R), with 26 percent of precincts reporting.

Weh had more money and better campaign organization, and benefitted from late endorsements from former presidential nominee Mitt Romney (R) and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee (R).

He faces an uphill race against Udall, who has led by comfortable margins in the few polls of the race in the Democratic-leaning state.

New Mexico Attorney General Gary King (D) has also won his primary and will face off against Gov. Susana Martinez (R), the heavy favorite in the race.

The Associated Press has called the race for King, who had 35 percent of the vote in his five-way primary.
