Scott Brown’s former aide to run Senate bid

Former Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown (R) has named Colin Reed, who served as his communications director on his 2012 Senate campaign, as his campaign manager for his upcoming run for Senate in New Hampshire.

{mosads}A source close to the Brown campaign confirmed the news, which was first reported by local news outlet WMUR. Reed had been serving as deputy communications director for New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R), but was already on the campaign trail with Brown in New Hampshire as of Friday.

Colin also worked for Brown’s official office in Washington, D.C., and said their long history was part of what attracted him to the race.

“I’ve known Scott for more than four years.  An opportunity to work with him again is something I couldn’t pass up. I am excited for the next seven months and a victory in November,” he said.

Brown is expected to officially launch his bid against Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.) in the coming weeks. He faces a handful of other Republicans in the primary but is seen as the GOP’s best shot to take down Shaheen.

But Democrats took the opportunity to tie Reed to the bridge scandal that rocked the Christie administration. Reed was one of 18 New Jersey officials subpoenaed by a state legislative committee as part of an investigation into the closures on the George Washington Bridge that were seen as an act of political retribution. Matt Mowers, formerly a regional political director for Christie’s reelection campaign but now executive director of the New Hampshire GOP, was also subpoenaed.
