DSCC beats NRSC in May fundraising

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee outraised its Republican counterpart by just over $1 million in the month of May, bringing in $4.9 million to the National Republican Senatorial Committee’s $3.6 million, according to committee sources.

{mosads}The DSCC now has about $10 million cash on hand, while the NRSC has just over $7 million.

The DSCC has outperformed the NRSC in terms of fundraising nearly every month this year, aside from April, when the NRSC raised slightly more.

Democratic fundraising numbers were boosted by help from President Obama, who has headlined a number of DSCC fundraisers throughout the first half of the year, including a handful in May.

The DSCC wouldn’t say how much it had spent in the last month — or how much debt it was carrying. As of the end of April, the organization had $8.6 million in the bank and $13.8 million in debt.

The organization has spent at least $700,000 in the past month to help Rep. Edward Markey’s (D-Mass.) Senate campaign.

The NRSC reported $8 million in debt, indicating they’ve paid down $1.5 million since the last report.

NRSC Communications Director Brad Dayspring said Republicans believe consistent debt plaguing the DSCC is an indication the GOP is in a better financial position going forward.

“Our goal has been to keep showing steady progress each month, raising the resources needed to send Chuck Schumer and LINO [Leader in Name Only] Harry Reid back the minority. Another month of ‘progress NRSC,’ ” he said.
