Bill Clinton calls to congratulate Trump

Bill Clinton reached out to President-elect Donald Trump on Thursday to congratulate him, according to reports.

An aide to Clinton said the former president congratulated Trump and “wished him well” during a brief call.

{mosads}Trump, who visited the White House on Thursday following his upset win over Hillary Clinton, used the Clintons’ marriage as a point of attack during the campaign.

Trump insisted during the second presidential debate that his comments captured on a hot mic in a 2005 “Access Hollywood” tape were simply “locker-room talk” and paled in comparison to accusations against the former president.

“If you look at Bill Clinton, far worse,” Trump said. “Mine are words, and his was action. His was, what he’s done to women, there’s never been anybody in the history of politics in this nation that’s been so abusive to women.”

Before the same debate, Trump held a press conference with three women who accused Bill Clinton of sexual assault or rape.

Despite Trump targeting Clinton’s past infidelity during the campaign, the pair had a seemingly cordial relationship previously and were pictured golfing together and laughing at Trump’s 2005 wedding in Florida.

Clinton also reportedly called Trump last year around the time the real estate tycoon was making a final decision about launching his Republican presidential bid.
