Trump aides shocked by how wrong their own polls were

Some officials in Donald Trump’s campaign are just as surprised as the rest of the country about the election results.

A senior campaign source told The Hill earlier Tuesday night that exit polls showed Trump losing to Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton by a fairly significant electoral vote margin.

{mosads}And Sarah Huckabee, the daughter of former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee (R) and a frequent media spokeswoman for the Trump campaign, reportedly said the Trump team’s internal polling was as wrong as the rest of the polling community’s work.

“Asked if the Trump campaign internal polling was as off as the rest of the polling, Sarah Huckabee tells me it was,” tweeted the Daily Beast’s Olivia Nuzzi.

“Sarah Huckabee told me the problem with the polling is there was no previous race on which to model it on,” Nuzzi added.

One pollster who said she foresaw a Trump victory all along is Trump’s campaign manager, Kellyanne Conway. Earlier in the night, before the results were coming in, Conway appeared to be making excuses in advance and blaming GOP leaders who didn’t back Trump.

But her tone shifted markedly once states began to fall Trump’s way.

“STOP saying ALL pollsters missed it,” Conway tweeted shortly after 11 p.m.
