Presidential races

Trump takes Florida

Donald Trump is projected to take Florida, a state he had identified as a must-win in his quest for the White House.

{mosads}Polls in Florida showed a tight race the last few weeks, but the state’s 29 electoral votes will go to the Republican, giving him a plausible path to victory in the Electoral College.

Trump’s win comes after weeks of campaigning in the Sunshine State. He stopped in Sarasota on Monday for a last-minute rally, while Democrat Hillary Clinton hosted an early voting rally on Saturday in Pembroke Pines.

The state lead the country in early voter turnout, with approximately 6.5 million Floridians casting early ballots, according to the Miami Herald

Trump had repeatedly predicted a victory in Florida, a state Republicans had not won in a presidential election since 2004.
