Trump misquotes CNN in tweet about voting problems across country
Donald Trump appears to have mistakenly cited a CNN report on voting machine problems in a Utah county, instead tweeting that there are problems across the “entire country.”
The GOP presidential nominee tweeted Tuesday afternoon that, “Just out according to CNN: ‘Utah officials report voting machine problems across entire country.’ “
Just out according to @CNN: “Utah officials report voting machine problems across entire country”

{mosads}CNN’s Brian Stelter quickly responded that the network had reported concerns across a county in Utah, not voting problems across the entire country.
No. Utah officials reported machine problems across one entire COUNTY, not the entire COUNTRY. https://t.co/6jWMw7qzvQ

Trump’s campaign did not immediately return a request for clarification.
The Associated Press story reports that the Utah voting machine problems could mean that more than 50,000 voters will have to vote by paper instead. That could prove important, because Utah has been closer than expected this year, with independent candidate Evan McMullin seeking to pull of an improbable win in the state.
Trump has long warned that the system is “rigged” against him and has urged supporters to be on the lookout for voter fraud.
His campaign filed a lawsuit Monday evening arguing that a Nevada county illegally let people vote early after the polls had closed. The campaign had requested that the judge preserve and separate those ballots in case the campaign decides to sue, but the judge dismissed the claim, arguing that such a step is already required by law.
