Report: 2 precinct election clerks fired in Florida

Two Florida precinct clerks were fired on Election Day for violating policy after a disturbance, according to local ABC affiliate WPLG.

{mosads}Broward County sheriffs were called to handle a situation at the Pompano Beach polling site, located between Boca Raton and Fort Lauderdale on Florida’s southeast coast.

The clerks were fired for not following “procedure and policy” and replaced by an assistant clerk, election officials told local news outlets. The officials didn’t specify what the disturbance was or how the clerks violated election policy.

Broward County voters chose President Obama over 2012 Republican nominee Mitt Romney 67 percent to 32 percent in the last presidential election.

The RealClearPolitics polling average shows a tight race in Florida, with GOP nominee Donald Trump ahead of Democrat Hillary Clinton by less than a point.
