Donald Trump is projected to win the battleground state of North Carolina, a huge victory for his campaign.
{mosads}Recent polling had shown him tied with Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton as recently as Monday, with each winning 44 percent, according to a New York Times/Siena College survey.
And both Trump, the GOP nominee, and Clinton spent the last legs of their campaigns in the state, with Clinton making it her last stop on the trail in a late Monday rally.
Democrats had hoped that a high black turnout for Clinton could put her over the top, but it wasn’t enough for the party to win the state for the second time in three presidential cycles.
