Trump announces $100M in Oct. small-dollar donations

Donald Trump’s campaign announced on Wednesday that it had brought in more than $100 million in “small-dollar donations” in the month of October, a whopping $65 million more than what it reported raising as of Oct. 19.

{mosads}Small-dollar donations typically refer to contributions of $200 or less, and the $100 million figure reported Wednesday would be an extraordinary burst of fundraising to close out the 2016 race.

The Republican presidential nominee’s campaign has never come close to raising $100 million in a monthly reporting period this cycle.

In its announcement, the campaign said that the sum came from 1.6 million small donations.

“Hitting a 100 million dollar goal in October is an amazing milestone for the campaign as it shows how Mr. Trump’s message is resonating with millions of voters across the country,” digital director Brad Parscale said in a statement. 

“We have seen significant growth in our fundraising online, just as we see growth in our poll numbers. These metrics and others highlight the groundswell of support that will make Donald J. Trump the 45th President of the United States.”

In its last Federal Election Commission filing of the cycle, the Trump campaign and a joint fundraising committee reported raising a total of $67 million in the first 19 days of October, including $35 million from small-dollar donations.
