Polls: Trump ahead in two red state battlegrounds
GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump holds a substantial lead in two red state battlegrounds and has regained the edge in a third, polls released Wednesday find.
New Emerson College polls found Trump leading Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton in Georgia by 9 points, 51 to 42 percent, and ahead in Missouri by 15 points, 52 to 37 points.
{mosads}In Arizona, Trump has rebounded and now leads Clinton by 4 points, 47 to 43 percent. In a poll from early October, the former secretary of State narrowly led by 2 points, 44 to 42 percent.
Clinton has invested resources and time in Arizona and Georgia as she seeks to expand the map. The Democratic nominee will campaign in Arizona on Wednesday, and high-profile surrogates including first lady Michelle Obama and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) have already stumped for her there. She also plans to air more than $1 million in ads in the state.
Trump has held a comfortable lead in Missouri.
The polls come as the race is tightening in the final week of the campaign. Trump has started to close the gap in the wake of the FBI’s decision to review new emails from former Rep. Anthony Weiner’s (D-N.Y.) laptop that may be “pertinent” to the investigation of Clinton’s private email server.
