Clinton campaign: Comey being selective about releasing information

Hillary Clinton’s campaign manager, Robby Mook, on Tuesday accused the FBI of treating Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump differently from the Democratic nominee.

{mosads}Referring to James Comey’s disclosure that the FBI has found potential new evidence related to the investigation of Clinton’s use of a personal email server from her time as secretary of State, Mook questioned why the FBI director hasn’t been as open about investigations into Trump’s alleged ties to Russia.

“Director Comey felt it was incumbent upon him to announce the FBI had some information they never even looked at, but they won’t reveal connections to Russia,” Mook said on CNN’s “New Day.”

“He was also asked repeatedly under oath in hearings whether he was investigating connections between Donald Trump and Russia and he refused to answer that question. Yet he has absolutely no problem whatsoever coming out and talking about investigations against Hillary Clinton. It’s a total breach of protocol.”

Comey in a letter to lawmakers Friday said potential new evidence has surfaced in the Clinton case while the FBI was investigating an unrelated matter.

Agents found thousands of emails belonging to longtime Clinton aide Huma Abedin on the laptop of her estranged husband, former Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.), whom the FBI is investigating for his alleged relationship with a minor.

The Clinton campaign has pushed back at Comey, urging him to release more information about the investigation and chastising him for making an announcement just days before the election.

“Now that he has opened the door, now that he has weighed in to this election, we’re saying let’s get all the information out there,” Mook said.
