Trump: Clinton’s email case a ‘total mess’

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump says Hillary Clinton’s response to a new FBI probe of emails from her private server shows she would not be able to handle the presidency.

{mosads}Clinton, the Democratic nominee, on Monday dismissed the agency’s investigation, saying it would uncover no misconduct from her or her aides.

“I’m sure a lot of you may be asking what this new email story is about and why in the world the FBI would decide to jump into the election with no evidence of any wrongdoing with just days to go,” she said during a rally in Kent, Ohio. “That’s a good question.”

“Now they apparently want to look at emails of one of my staffers, and by all means, they should look at them,” she added.

“And I am sure they will reach the same conclusion they did when they looked at my emails for the last year. There is no case here.”

FBI Director James Comey told lawmakers in a letter last Friday that the bureau had found new emails that may prove “pertinent” to its investigation of Clinton’s use of a private server from her time as secretary of State.

The messages were found during a separate probe of former Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.), who is the estranged husband of longtime Clinton aide Huma Abedin.

Comey has come under fire for the letter, which critics say violated Justice Department policy not to take steps that might affect an election.
