Giuliani: ‘Outrageous’ that FBI didn’t discover emails sooner
Rudy Giuliani says the FBI “prematurely” wrapped up its investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server, arguing it’s “outrageous” that new emails linked to the probe have emerged.
Speaking in a radio interview with John Catsimatidis on Sunday, the former New York City mayor seized on initial reports that said the FBI was “reopening” its investigation.
{mosads}“It’s really outrageous that this happens at this point,” Giuliani said. “The investigation should have done completely back when it was done. The FBI shouldn’t have cut it off prematurely, which they clearly did.”
FBI Director James Comey announced in July that he would not recommend criminal charges over Clinton’s use of a private email server while serving as secretary of State.
On Friday, he sent a letter to Congress saying that the bureau discovered the existence of emails “pertinent” to the investigation and would be reviewing them.
Giuliani noted that he was critical of Comey’s decision in July and was hopeful that the FBI would broaden its probe.
“I think Hillary Clinton’s activities over 30 years kind of indicates that there’s something rotten here,” he said, ticking off a list of grievances against Clinton, the Democratic presidential nominee, going back decades.
“This is a person who couldn’t be hired to be an assistant U.S. attorney,” Giuliani added. “Maybe this adds a little something to it, but it’s pretty clear that the whole Clinton operation was really beyond the law, and they’ve been getting away with it forever, and maybe, finally, it’s caught up with them.”
