CNN moves Florida, Nevada toward Trump
Florida and Nevada are once again within reach for Donald Trump, according to CNN’s electoral outlook.
{mosads}The network on Thursday moved both states from “lean Democratic” to “battleground” status. CNN had moved both to “lean Democratic” last week.
Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton has campaigned heavily in Florida this week and will also be back this weekend.
Sunshine State polls in recent days have shown mixed results, with some giving Donald Trump, the Republican nominee, a slim edge and others showing Clinton ahead by as many as 4 points.
Along with Nevada and Florida, CNN’s other battleground states are Utah, Arizona, Ohio and North Carolina, as well as Maine’s 2nd District and Nebraska’s 2nd District. A total of 87 electoral votes are up for grabs, according to the network.
The states that CNN considers either “lean Democratic” or “solid Democratic” total 272 electoral votes, while those that are “lean Republican” or “solid Republican” total 179 electoral votes. A candidate needs to reach 270 electoral votes to clinch the presidency.
