Trump: ‘I’m going to see how smart’ voters are

Donald Trump in an interview that aired Thursday ramped up his criticism of the media for its coverage of his campaign, saying voters’ minds are being “poisoned.”

{mosads}”So often [news outlets] will say ‘Oh Donald Trump said this or he said that’…and what I said was fine,”  the GOP presidential nominee said during an interview with ABC’s “Good Morning America.” “If a Democrat had said it, if Hillary had said it, people wouldn’t have even thought about it.”

Trump said he will say something that is “absolutely perfect” and still get negative media coverage.

He defended the comments he has made throughout his campaign, saying he went to an Ivy League school and is a “very smart person.”

“There have been some instances where I could have done it a little bit differently, but sometimes, I’ll say something that’s absolutely perfect and I’ll get a call after an interview … ‘did you say this or that,’ and they’ll skew it so unfairly,” Trump continued.

“The media poisons the mind of the American voter,” he said, adding, however, that voters are “really smart.”

“I’m going to see how smart they are,” he said.

“I think the American voter is smarter than the media.”
