Donald Trump is mocking Hillary Clinton for taking time to attend an Adele concert, saying it’s proof that she doesn’t campaign as hard as him.
“Hillary Clinton goes to see an Adele concert last night, and everybody says, ‘Oh, wasn’t that nice? Isn’t that wonderful?’ ” the Republican presidential nominee told ABC News’s George Stephanopoulos Wednesday.
{mosads}“Nobody complains when she goes to an Adele concert all night long while I’m making two speeches at rallies to massive crowds,” Trump continued.
“She does one stop, and nobody complains about that. She does one stop because she has no energy; she’s got nothing going. I did eight stops yesterday, three major rallies where I told you — 25, 15 and 20 thousands of people.”
Trump in the interview lashed out at those who criticized him for taking a break from the campaign trail Wednesday for the opening of his new luxury hotel in Washington, D.C.
“I think it’s so unfair,” he said of the criticism. “I built one of the great hotels of the world. What am I supposed to do, not show up? I think I’m entitled to it.
“I’m taking one hour off, then I’m going to North Carolina right after this. Then I’m going back down to Florida. Then I’m going to New Hampshire. I’m all over the place.”
Trump attended the grand opening of his lavish Trump International Hotel early Wednesday, with less than two weeks before Election Day.
The billionaire seemed aware his break from campaigning might seem ill-timed and used a speech at the event to tout his White House run.
“I’ve been very lucky, and I’ve had a great life, and now I want to give back to the country I love so much and has been so good to me,” Trump said at the event.
Adele, meanwhile, endorsed Clinton during a performance in Miami late Tuesday with the Democratic presidential nominee in the audience.
“Don’t vote for [Trump],” the British singer told fans. “I can’t vote, but I’m 100 percent behind Hillary Clinton. I love her; she’s amazing.”
