Donald Trump says he will spend more than $100 million on his presidential bid, despite reports that he’s spent barely half of that so far.
{mosads}”I’ll have over $100 million in the campaign, and I’m prepared to go much more than that,” Trump told CNN’s Dana Bash in a Wednesday interview after an event promoting his new hotel in Washington D.C.
Trump has insisted throughout the campaign that he will put $100 million of his own funds into the White House bid.
But so far, the GOP presidential nominee has fallen well short of that figure, putting in only $56 million, according to The Washington Post.
Steve Mnuchin, the Trump campaign’s national finance chairman, declined to tell the Post when or if the billionaire will provide the remaining funds.
“He has been very supportive of the campaign with his contributions,” Mnuchin said.
Trump also criticized Bash for questioning why he took time off the campaign trail to attend a corporate event for his hotel, calling her inquiry “very rude” and “actually very insulting.”
