Clinton has huge advantage with LGBT vote

LGBT adults are much more likely to view Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton positively, a new poll released Wednesday shows.

{mosads}The Gallup poll found that 55 percent of LGBT adults view Clinton favorably, compared to 12 percent who view GOP nominee Donald Trump favorably.

While favorability ratings don’t necessarily correlate to vote preferences, the numbers suggest Clinton should perform much better among LGBT voters than Trump.

For example, 76 percent of LGBT adults supported President Obama in 2012, compared with the 22 percent who voted for GOP nominee Mitt Romney.

The results are based on Gallup Daily tracking and included interviews with more than 450 individuals who self-identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender from June through September, and 282 from Oct. 1 to 20.

The poll has a margin of error of 2 percentage points.
