Pence on Trump threats to sue accusers: He’s entitled to defend reputation

Republican vice presidential nominee Mike Pence on Tuesday defended his running mate after Donald Trump last weekend threatened to sue the women who have recently accused him of sexual misconduct.

{mosads}”Everyone in this country is entitled to defend their own reputation and their own integrity,” Pence said during an interview with Fox News’ Megyn Kelly.

“And that includes people that are running for president of the United States.”

Trump said last weekend that he would sue the women who have come forward with allegations of sexual misconduct against him, who he claims are making up the stories to help Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton win the White House.

“They’re trying to poison the mind of the American voter. Every woman lied when they came forward to hurt my campaign,” Trump said during his speech.

“Total fabrication. The events never happened — never. All of these liars will be sued after the election is over.”

Pence also on Tuesday appeared confident in Trump’s chances of being elected to the White House, even as many polls have shown him trailing his Democratic rival both nationally and in many battleground states.

“The only poll that counts is the one we’re going to finish up come Election Day,” Pence said.
