Trump ‘incredibly gracious’ toward Clinton, says aide

Donald Trump’s campaign manager on Tuesday praised the way the GOP presidential nominee has acted toward his Democratic rival, Hillary Clinton.

{mosads}”He’s incredibly gracious toward her,” Kellyanne Conway said Tuesday on CNN.

“But that doesn’t mean he thinks she’d make a good president of the United States. He clearly thinks she would not. We feel she has an unremarkable record in the United States Senate and a very questionable record as secretary of State.”

Conway said Trump has been “complimentary” to the Democratic nominee recently.

She pointed to comments Trump made to Clinton during a charity dinner last week.

“Last week, it was reported at the Catholic dinner it New York, the Al Smith dinner, that he said to her, ‘You’re one tough competitor, one tough smart competitor,'” Conway said.

She also referenced an answer Trump gave during the second presidential debate when the candidates were asked to name a positive quality about their opponent.

“He said: ‘She doesn’t quit, she’s a good fighter,’ you know that kind of thing. He’s complimented her family,” Conway said.

CNN’s Wolf Blitzer pointed out during the interview that Trump often attacks Clinton. During the third presidential debate, he called her a “nasty woman,” and Trump often says in speeches that Clinton, who he refers to as “Crooked Hillary,” belongs in jail and shouldn’t be eligible to run for president.

“In the ‘crooked’ and ‘rigged’ part, the rigged system, I think many Americans agree with that, that they feel like they’re always on the outside looking in,” Conway responded, defending the GOP nominee.

When asked if she felt uncomfortable when Trump called his Democratic rival a “nasty woman,” Conway said Clinton has said “very nasty things about him.”

“And she does constantly,” Conway said.

“I don’t think she’s a nasty woman but I think she was acting nastily toward him. She’s a woman who was acting nastily toward him at that moment and does plenty.”
