Pence likens ObamaCare to Samsung phones that catch on fire

Republican vice presidential nominee Mike Pence compared ObamaCare to Samsung smartphones that were recalled for catching on fire, saying that the healthcare law will be also be “pulled off the market.” 

{mosads}At a Tuesday rally in Swanton, Ohio, Pence referenced President Obama’s comments last week likening his signature healthcare law to a new device with bugs. Obama argued that you work out the issues instead of completely scrapping it.

Pence used the president’s own example to take aim at the law one day after an announcement that premiums will increase by an average of 25 percent next year for insurance plans purchased through ObamaCare.

“What a coincidence, Mr. President, because that’s exactly what we’re going to go with ObamaCare,” the Indiana governor said Tuesday. “We’re going to pull it off the market.”

GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump has made calls for repealing and replacing the law a fixture in his stump speech. Trump has proposed allowing health insurance to be sold across state lines.

At a Florida rally following Monday’s ObamaCare announcement, Trump blasted the law, saying, “It’s over for ObamaCare.”

Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton has said she wants to strengthen ObamaCare, though she has acknowledged the persisting issues with the law, including soaring premium and prescription drug costs.
