Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton says Donald Trump’s tweet slamming the effort to retake Mosul, Iraq, amounts to “declaring defeat” in the anti-terrorist effort.
{mosads}Clinton on Monday tore into her Republican rival, who a day earlier called the battle to reclaim Mosul from the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) a “total disaster.”
“He’s basically declaring defeat before the battle has even started,” she said, according to Reuters.
“He’s proving to the world what it means to have an unqualified commander in chief.”
In a tweet Sunday, Trump said America “is looking so dumb” for giving the militants “months of notice.”
Trump reiterated his attacks on Monday a campaign rally.
“They’ve had a lot of time to get ready,” he said. “It’s a horrible, horrible situation that’s going on. Why did we have to tell them we’re going in?”
