National poll: Clinton clings to 5-point lead over Trump

Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton holds a 5-point edge over Republican Donald Trump, a national poll released Tuesday finds.

{mosads}A new NBC News/Survey Monkey online tracking poll found Clinton leading Trump 46 to 41 percent, numbers that remain relatively unchanged from last week’s poll. Libertarian nominee Gary Johnson garnered 7 percent, while Green Party nominee Jill Stein took 3 percent.

When the race is a two-way matchup, Clinton’s lead slightly grows to 6 points, 50 to 44 percent.

The poll also found Republican and GOP-leaning voters expressing concern over a fractured party. Sixty-three percent of likely GOP voters believe the party must rally around Trump for him to win the White House, while only 34 percent believe the real estate mogul can win without a united party.

Clinton heads into the final two weeks of the election with a comfortable lead. According to RealClearPolitics polling average, she has a 5.5 point lead in national polls.

The poll was conducted Oct. 17–23 and surveyed 32,225 likely voters via online. The margin of error was 1 percentage point.
