Biden slams Trump: ‘He doesn’t know anything’

Vice President Biden on Monday blasted Donald Trump for “dumbing down” the election as he took aim at the media for opting to cover the GOP presidential nominee’s comments and rhetoric over the candidate’s policy proposals.

{mosads}While campaigning for Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and Democratic Senate hopeful Ted Strickland in Toledo, Ohio, Biden touted Clinton’s commitment to education and higher education policies and cited his frustration with reporters that these issues are going uncovered.

“Trump has so dumbed down this election that the press — they’re decent people — all these folks out there, what are you going to cover?” Biden said. “You’re going to cover Hillary’s explanation how she pays for college or are you going to cover Trump saying that because he’s famous, he can go out and grope women?”

“It’s been so outrageous we’ve not covered any of the issues basically,” he added. “That’s what elections are supposed to be about.”

Biden continued to praise Clinton for her experience with foreign policy and the economy as a way to contrast Trump’s knowledge on these issues.

“One thing he’s demonstrated — he doesn’t know anything,” Biden said. “But he says these things and you look and it’s like a sitcom like, ‘Whoa where’d that come from?’”

Biden referenced last Friday’s Pennsylvania rally where he said he wish he could take the real estate mogul “behind the gym” over his lewd remarks about women.

“I’m not going to say anymore. I’ll get myself in trouble and say something like I’d like to take him behind the gym if I were in high school,” Biden said to laughter from the crowd.

But after it looked like he was going to stop himself, Biden doubled down on the riff: “I mean all kidding aside, wouldn’t you? I mean for real. Can you imagine a guy in a locker room talking that way, and your sister is out there watching the game?”

Biden was referring to the leaked 2005 tape of Trump bragging about groping and kissing women without their consent. The GOP nominee apologized for the comments but chalked it up to “locker room” banter.

Biden has been one of Clinton’s top surrogates of the cycle and a frequent attack dog of Trump. The vice president has traveled around the country to stump for the former secretary of State as well as down-ballot candidates as Democrats try to regain control of the Senate and the even tougher feat of retaking the House.
