Ohio Republican Party Chairman Matt Borges, who supported Gov. John Kasich in the primary, has said he will vote for GOP nominee Donald Trump.
{mosads}Earlier this month, the Trump campaign severed ties with Borges, alleging he used his position to push to become the next Republican National Committee chairman.
Borges was open about his indecision over supporting Trump and announced his vote on Sunday, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
“I will be supporting a straight Republican ticket — starting with Donald Trump for President,” he wrote in an email to Ohio Republican insiders obtained by The Enquirer.
“A Hillary Clinton presidency would be a disaster for our country. … The prospect of her winning is just unacceptable to me.”
The presidential race is virtually tied in the battleground of Ohio, with the RealClearPolitics average showing Trump ahead of the Democratic nominee by less than a point.
