Report: Trump made ‘Apprentice’ staff work through Superstorm Sandy aftermath

Donald Trump forced employees of his reality show to work in the immediate aftermath of Superstorm Sandy, which wreaked havoc on the New York area in 2012. 

A former staffer told The Daily Beast on Sunday that midlevel employees on “The Apprentice” were told to come to work at Trump Tower one day after the storm hit and shut down most of the city, including it’s public transit. 

{mosads}“I was personally really pissed off,” one former staffer told the news outlet, adding, “Everyone said Trump was fully aware.”

Another former employee said they all came to work, even though “the whole city was shut down. It was really irresponsible and selfish.”

“This was all Trump,” another ex-employee said. “If he had wanted us to not brave the aftermath and come to his dumb tower, he could’ve done that.”

The Daily Beast reported that all this happened while Trump was publicly taking credit for letting people shelter in Trump Tower, though the news outlet points out that he was required to do so by law. 

“We are taking care of hundreds of people in the Trump Tower atrium—they are seeking refuge. Free coffee and food,” he tweeted on the day the hurricane made landfall. 

However, The Daily Beast could not find evidence that Trump Tower hosted “thousands” of people on the night the hurricane hit.

The Trump campaign did not immediately respond to requests for comment, nor did publicists for “The Apprentice” executive producer Mark Burnett.
