Trump uses Michelle Obama’s words to hit Clinton

Donald Trump early Sunday hit Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, using a statement first lady Michelle Obama made during the 2008 presidential campaign.

” ‘If you can’t run your own house you certainly can’t run the White House’ A statement made by Mrs. Obama about Crooked Hillary Clinton,” Trump tweeted.

Obama made the comment when she was campaigning for her husband at a Chicago primary rally in 2007.

{mosads}”One of the things, the important aspects of this race, is role modeling what good families should look like,” she said at the time. “And my view is that if you can’t run your own house, you certainly can’t run the White House. Can’t do it.”

Michelle Obama did not mention Clinton by name.

Trump during the second presidential debate of 2016 in St. Louis used a similar line of attack.

“I’ve gotten to see the commercials that they did on you. And I’ve gotten to see some of the most vicious commercials I’ve ever seen of Michelle Obama talking about you, Hillary,” Trump said, according to Politifact.

Politifact rated Trump’s statement false, adding that the commercial the GOP nominee is referencing was produced by a pro-Trump super PAC, not the Obama campaign.
