Conway: Trump ‘just trying to defend himself’ with threats to sue accusers

Donald Trump’s campaign manager, Kellyanne Conway, on Sunday defended the Republican presidential nominee after he threatened to sue the women who have accused him of sexual misconduct.

{mosads}”He’s just trying to defend himself against false accusers, as he says,” Conway said on “Fox News Sunday.”

“He says those incidents never happened, yet they’re covered in the media every single day.”

The Republican nominee on Saturday vowed to sue the women who have come forward to level allegations of sexual misconduct against him.

In a speech in Gettysburg, Pa., Trump said the women made up fake stories to help Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s campaign.

“They’re trying to poison the mind of the American voter. Every woman lied when they came forward to hurt my campaign,” Trump said during his speech.

“Total fabrication. The events never happened — never. All of these liars will be sued after the election is over.”

Conway said Sunday that Trump can’t get fair coverage when he make substantive points.

“And yet [news outlets] imbue credibility to others automatically,” she said.

Conway then pivoted to touting the GOP nominee’s poll numbers. She said Trump is now leading Clinton in some major national polls and is either ahead, within the margin of error or within striking distance in several battleground states.
