Kaine: Clinton ‘looks damn presidential’
Hillary Clinton’s running mate, Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.), on Saturday night defended the Democratic presidential nominee from attacks on her appearance, saying she looks “damn presidential.”
“She has heard that her entire life. That this isn’t for you, or this is a man’s profession,” Kaine said at a rally in Philadelphia introducing Clinton.
{mosads}”She’s heard this from her opponent,” Kaine continued. He pointed to Republican nominee Donald Trump’s remark in September that Clinton doesn’t have a “presidential look.”
“I think she looks damn presidential,” Kaine responded as Clinton sat nearby. “I think she looks damn presidential.”
Kaine has defended Clinton before on the topic, but his latest comments come as the Democratic ticket voices more confidence heading into the final weeks of the race.
Clinton has led Trump in a series of polls nationally and in battleground states recently as Trump has brushed off various accusations of sexual misconduct and accused Democrats and the media of rigging the election.
Kaine spoke Saturday of the potential of Clinton becoming the nation’s first female president, remarking that the campaign may be difficult for Clinton because “she’s trying to do something for the first time.”
