Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton skipped a handshake at the start of Wednesday night’s presidential debate in Las Vegas.
The pair didn’t look at each other or acknowledge each other’s presence as they walked onto the stage and quickly went to their respective podiums.
{mosads}In a tweet shortly before the debate, top Trump ally Newt Gingrich predicted that the two combatants would “shake hands coming out.”
The nominees’ spouses, Melania Trump and Bill Clinton, also avoided a handshake, reportedly at the request of the Clinton campaign.
