Poll: Clinton up 7 points over Trump

Hillary Clinton is leading Donald Trump by 7 points nationally, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released Wednesday.

Clinton, the Democratic presidential nominee, got 47 percent support to Trump’s 40 percent in the survey. Libertarian nominee Gary Johnson has 7 percent, while Green Party nominee Jill Stein got 1 percent. 

{mosads}In a two-way race, Clinton led Trump by 6 points, with 50 percent to Trump’s 44 percent.

The majority of voters polled believe the media is biased against Trump, the Republican nominee. Eighty-eight percent of Republicans and 61 percent of independents said there is bias, while 77 percent of the Democrats surveyed said the media is not biased.

Fifty-nine percent of those polled said Trump lacks decency, while 58 percent said he is not fit to be president.

Trump has had to beat back accusations from more than a half-dozen women that he aggressively kissed or groped them without their consent, which he denies. 

When polled about the allegations against Trump, 51 percent said they believe the accusations, while 31 percent did not. 

“Media bias or not, Trump’s character issues have ominous implications,” Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University poll, said in a press release. 

“The consensus opinion is that Trump groped women and is neither fit enough nor a decent enough person to be President.”

As for Clinton, 55 percent said she “has a sense of decency,” while 47 percent said she is fit to be commander in chief. Forty-nine percent said Clinton is not fit for the presidency. 

Clinton leads Trump by 6.5 points in the latest RealClearPolitics average of national polls.

The poll surveyed 1,007 likely voters Oct. 17–18. The margin of error is 3.1 percentage points.
