Wisconsin poll: Clinton has 7-point lead on Trump

Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton has a 7-point lead over Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump in Wisconsin, according to a new Monmouth University poll.

{mosads}Clinton is favored by 47 percent of likely voters in the state, and Trump is backed by 40 percent.
 
Libertarian nominee Gary Johnson is backed by 6 percent of likely voters, and Green Party nominee Jill Stein has the support of 1 percent. Another 2 percent of likely voters plan to support another candidate.
 
The recent poll shows Clinton with a lead similar to the one she had two months ago, which showed her up by 5 points, 43 percent to 38 percent.
 
Both candidates are viewed unfavorably by a majority of voters in Wisconsin.
 
Clinton is viewed favorably by 36 percent and unfavorably by 53 percent. Trump is viewed favorably by just 28 percent of voters and unfavorably by 61 percent.
 
Fifty-eight percent of respondents say Clinton has the appropriate temperament to serve as president, compared to just 32 percent who say the same of Trump.
 
Forty percent of Wisconsin voters say it’s very important to keep Clinton out of the White House, and 48 percent say the same of Trump.
 
In the Senate race in Wisconsin, Democrat Russ Feingold has an 8-point lead over incumbent Republican Ron Johnson, 52 percent to 44 percent.
 
The poll was conducted Oct. 15–18 among 403 likely Wisconsin voters. The margin of error is 4.9 percentage points.
 
According to the RealClearPolitics average of polls in the state, Clinton has a 7-point lead over her Republican rival, 45 percent to 38 percent.
