Libertarian presidential nominee Gary Johnson says the general election is not rigged against Donald Trump.
“No, elections are not rigged,” he told CNN’s Dana Bash during an interview late Tuesday. “Why does he continue to say these things day after day? I have no clue.”
{mosads}”I think the guy’s toast. I don’t think people are going to vote for him,” Johnson added.
Trump in recent days has frequently said the election is being “rigged” against him, claiming that the media and Hillary Clinton’s campaign are working against him. Several Republican leaders have dismissed Trump’s remarks.
The GOP candidate has leaned into the idea of voter fraud after his poll numbers began to drop amid sexual misconduct allegations from about a dozen women.
Johnson said he believes the women, pointing to the recently revealed recording of Trump bragging in 2005 about being able to grope women’s genitals because of his celebrity. Johnson called Trump’s comments “beyond inappropriate.”
“Nine women have come forward. That goes beyond ‘locker room talk.’ That’s reality,” Johnson said.
Johnson also argued late Tuesday that Clinton, the Democratic nominee, is as unfit to be president.
“There’s just so much out there [on Clinton]. The revelations I find incredible are saying one thing to Wall Street and another thing to Main Street,” he said. “If Hillary Clinton is elected president, government spending will go up. We’re going to continue to drop bombs.”
