Newt Gingrich came down on Donald Trump Thursday, saying “little Trump is frankly pathetic.”
Gingrich was referring to Trump’s attacks on Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) for distancing himself from the Republican presidential nominee just weeks before the election.
{mosads}“Donald Trump has one opponent. Her name is Hillary Clinton. Her name is not Paul Ryan. It’s not anybody else,” Gingrich, a Trump adviser, said Thursday morning on Fox Business.
“Look, first of all, let me just say about Trump, who I admire and I’ve tried to help as much as I can. There’s a big Trump and a little Trump,” Gingrich said.
“The little Trump is frankly pathetic. I mean, he’s mad over not getting a phone call?”
Trump at a rally in Florida Wednesday complained that Ryan didn’t call and congratulate him after Sunday night’s debate against Clinton.
“Instead of calling me and saying, ‘Congratulations, you did a great job, you absolutely destroyed her in the debate like everybody said,’” Trump said.
“So wouldn’t you think that Paul Ryan would call and say, ‘Good going?'”
