The head of the Republican National Committee should resign if Donald Trump remains on the GOP presidential ticket, one GOP lawmaker said Saturday.
A New York Times reporter tweeted that Rep. Charlie Dent (R-Pa.) is demanding RNC Chairman Reince Priebus remove Trump from the ticket.
{mosads}”If he can’t, then he should step down,” Dent said, according to the tweet.
Pressure is building on high-ranking party members as a growing number of Republicans call on Trump to drop out of the race. The Washington Post published damning audio on Friday of Trump bragging about groping women in 2005.
In rescinding their endorsements and saying they will not vote for Trump, a number of GOP lawmakers have indicated that they would like to see Trump’s running mate, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, on the ticket instead.
Trump, however, has said there is “zero chance” he would withdraw from the race.
