National poll: Clinton up 5 on Trump
Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton has a 5-point lead over Republican opponent Donald Trump, a new national poll released Friday finds.
{mosads}A new Reuters/Ipsos national tracking poll found that Clinton tops Trump, 43 to 38 percent.
Friday’s poll is consistent with other Reuters/Ipsos weekly surveys since early September that have shown Clinton leading anywhere from 4 to 6 points.
The poll, which comes a couple of days before the candidates’ second debate on Sunday night, also found that one in every five likely voters would opt for another candidate or wouldn’t vote.
In another poll that includes a four-way matchup, Clinton still leads Trump by 5 points, 42 to 37 percent. Libertarian nominee Gary Johnson takes 8 percent, while Green Party nominee Jill Stein receives 2 percent.
Following the first presidential debate, Clinton has seen a modest bounce in the polls. The former secretary of State leads Trump by 4.5 points, according to RealClearPolitics polling average.
The poll was conducted from Sept. 30 to Oct. 6 and surveyed 1,695 likely voters. The margin of error was 3 percentage points.
