Nearly half of voters view Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s charitable foundation in a negative light, according to a poll conducted before the news that New York state ordered the charity to stop accepting public donations.
{mosads}Forty-eight percent said they have an unfavorable view of the Trump Foundation, while 24 percent have a favorable view, the Morning Consult poll found.
Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s family charity fares slightly better, with 43 percent saying they have an unfavorable view of the Clinton Foundation and 35 percent saying they have a favorable view.
And Democratic voters are more supportive of Clinton’s charity than Republicans are of Trump’s, the poll found.
Sixty-seven percent of Democrats hold a favorable view of the Clinton Foundation, while just 44 percent of Republicans see the Trump Foundation in a positive light.
The poll surveyed 1,991 registered voters from Sept. 30 to Oct. 2. It has a margin of error of 2 percentage points.
