Poll: Trump, Clinton in close race in New Mexico

Hillary Clinton has a small advantage over Donald Trump in New Mexico, according to a new Albuquerque Journal poll.

{mosads}Clinton, the Democratic presidential nominee, is favored by 35 percent of likely voters in the state, while Trump, the Republican nominee, is backed by 31 percent. Libertarian nominee Gary Johnson has the support of 24 percent of voters, and the Green Party’s Jill Stein is backed by 2 percent.

Another 6 percent are undecided.

In a head-to-head matchup, Clinton holds a 10-point lead over her Republican rival.

In that matchup, Clinton is favored by 44 percent of likely New Mexico voters and Trump is backed by just 34 percent.

Another 11 percent said they wouldn’t vote for either of the major-party nominees.

Clinton leads Trump among Hispanic voters, 40 percent to 18 percent, in the state, pollsters found. She also holds a lead among women, 38 percent to 27 percent.

Trump, meanwhile, has an advantage among men in the state, 35 percent to 31 percent.

The poll also found that 63 percent of respondents think the country is on the wrong track.

The poll was conducted from Sept. 27 to 29 among 501 likely New Mexico voters. The margin of error is 4.4 percentage points.
